GM recently issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on their wax frames. Their “fix” only applies during the warranty period. If you are past 6 years/100,000 miles, your out of luck and have to pay for the repair yourself. Unfortunately, GM has not issued a bulletin for the GMC trucks impacted by this issue at this time even though they use the exact same process and have the exact same problems.

Coating the wax frame with our products can help this minimize this problem by keeping the existing wax soft and extend the life of your frame.

Note: TSBs are considered “proprietary” information by the manufacturers and the want to perform as little work covered under warranty as possible. Your dealer may very well tell you “they’ve never heard of this issue”. They are not telling you the truth. They may also pull up an older version of the TSB and tell you that you are out of luck.
